In Australia, international students are not getting adequate international student insurance; this is according to the Society of Anesthetists. Health insurance that is set for international students has poor coverage as compared to those students who have other insurance coverage.

According to the society, there is a gap between the promotional insurance materials and the actual coverage. Promotions for international student health insurance is misleading students and leaving them in the dark about what they can and cannot get in terms of medical coverage.

This concern was brought up by the society because there have been a number of instances wherein anesthetists have given free medical service to foreign students.

Sun Life Financial, based in Wellesley, Mass., announced it will market its stop-loss insurance through Cigna Payer Solutions, a network connecting third-party administrators with health care providers.

Under the business agreement, any employer or plan sponsor that is a client of a TPA contracted with Cigna Payer Solutions will have access to Cignas health services and Sun Life Financials expertise in stop-loss insurance.

Cigna Payer Solutions connects participating TPAs to a network with more than 660,000 health care professionals and 5,100 hospitals.

Cigna, which has a large presence in Philadelphia, will continue to sell medical stop-loss to employers that do not work with Cigna Payer Solutions TPAs.

“Sun Life Financials ability to provide quality customer service in the TPA marketplace will offer significant value while managing medical costs for our customers,” said Jeff Terrill, president of Cigna Emerging Markets, in a statement.

UK passengers taking holiday flights say they are now more likely to take out travel insurance as a direct consequence of the severe disruption caused by last year’s volcanic eruption in Iceland, according to a new survey, undertaken by eDigital Research.

The survey found that as many as 74.94% of respondents said they were now giving positive consideration to travel insurance as a result of the eruption.

The eruption led to complete airport closures, the cancellation of many flights, and to the severe delay of many others, over fears that particles from the volcanic ash cloud might damage aircraft engines. M
