Towergate Insurance and comparethemarket.com have signed an agreement whereby Towergate will provide the price comparison website with insurance for its SME customers.

Towergate will gain business from comparethemarket.com in a number of lines, including Commercial package, Liability, Commercial & Let Property, Restaurants, Surgeries and Offices.

The new business will be handled by specialist commercial unit, Your Insurance, led by Managing Director Robert Rees.

Rees has ambitious growth plans, and the new move not only increases the business his unit will handle but also falls into line with Towergate’s broader strategy of enhancing its capacity to deal with more high volume VSME business.

Towergate Retail Division CEO Jonathan Walker described the agreement as an exciting step forwards, and announced that the firm had a target of achieving a GWP of £100m in the next few years.

Commercial Director Jeremy Moll of comparethemarket.com expressed the firm’s confidence that Towergate would offer the website’s SME customers choice, flexibility and great customer service.
